Genre Mood Board
We gathered lots of images of different artists which belong to the same genre or a simler genre of our chosen song. This will help me when I come to make my digipack as I will be able to see what sort of things this genre of music use and what makes it stand out.

Digipack deconstruction- Duffy
This is the digipack for Duffy a modern successful female solo artist. I have chosen to deconstruct her album because it fits in with the genre of the artist we have chosen to use as our final song choice. The album is also fairly new and therefore I can get ideas when it comes to making mine.
A black and white theme is used throughout this digipack. A white font on a black background is used for the artists name in order to make it stand out to the consumers. It needs to be very clear to the audience as it is a very important factor and needs to stand out. I also think that it is a very good contrast between the title and the rest of the front cover.
An image of half of the artist is the first thing you notice when you look at this album. By using black and white colours it fits in with the theme of the rest of the CD. The photo looks very modern which fits in with the image they are trying to portray of trendy and stylish. Duffy has a quite a blank expression on her face which fits in with the type of music she sings as most of it is quite slow.
The back of the album is very plain and dark. Using a black background with white writting shows the importance of the song titles. Using block letters again emphasises how important these song titles are when you look at the CD and this also makes the writting easier to read. The theme of black and white again carries on on the back of the album. The producers names are written in the bottom left hand corner whichs shows me that it isnt very important but still needs to be mentioned.
The CD is again very blank. Duffy is written in white with a black background (following the same colour theme) in order to show its importance. This name needs to stand out alot on the CD because if someone lost it then they still know exactly what the CD is.
The page on the left hand side is plain and has a small amount of writing which shows me that this page isnt important at all. By keeping this page blank it doesnt draw your attention away from the CD it self.

Digipack deconstruction- Daniel Merriweather
I have decided to deconstruct a digi pack for Daniel Merriweather as he is a contempary artist and thought that it would give me ideas for when I came to making my own. Daniel Merriweather is an up and coming artist and this is his first album. As well as this his music links in with the song I am going to use to make my music video as their music is the same genre.
The photo on the left hand side is one of the first things that you see when you open the CD case and therefore needs to stand out. As you can see here the picture is colourful and very effective. His clothes are very fashionable which ties in well with the genre of music as most people that listen to his also are into the same sort of fashion. This picture is also very important as it reminds you what CD you are listening to. In the bottom left hand corner of this picture you can see things such as the record labels name and his website. The writting is smalls so shows that its not very relevant but is still important for people to know about. The theme of the city runs all the way through the digipack in order and by doing this it has made it look very professional.
Front cover: By using a black background 'Daniel Merriweather' stands out and its the first thing that you notice which is very important as its the artists name and thats what the audience will be looking for. The colours of the artists name and album name also blend in very well with the colour scheme of the picture which makes it look very professional. The black and white writing with the city as the main pictures runs throughout the whole of the digipack and therefore the audience may remember Daniel Merriweather when they are in areas such as where he is in the picture. The picture is taken with a shallow focus on Daniel Merriweather in order to make him stand out from everything else on the front cover. His clothing is also very plain and neutral colours so that it first in with the colour scheme of the rest of the CD.
Back cover: Again the back carrys on the theme of the city in the top right hand corner but the rest of it is very plain. By doing this is means that the song title stand out more to the customers. The titles of the songs are written in verticle which makes it easier for the audience to read. The record label and people such as producers are again mentioned which shows me that it seems to be a very important thing to mention and therefore I need to make sure I add it to mine. Although this information is very small so that it doesnt take the attention from the song and the artist himself.

The CD itself is very plain but carrys on the scheme of the big city. 'Daniel Merriweather' is written in white on a black background to highlight its importance. The record label is also written here as well but much smaller which indicates that it isnt that important.

Links To Kickstart- Preliminary Task
We showed shots of George dancing like how it is shown in this screen shot here. We tried to use some ideas from the actual current music video as it shows that the genre of the music is very upbeat and young. We used close up shots of George and other girls and boys as in the Kickstarts video you see men and women close up as well as the artist. These shots were quite fast in order to go with the beat of the music representing again the genre of the music well and how upbeat the song is. We tried to keep the preliminary task quite simple which is why we copied a lot of the shots from the actual Kickstart video. The opening of the original video starts with a shot of example taping his feet in time to the music which we thought was a really effective and professional looking shot and therefore decided to use it in our product as well. We would have liked to have been able to use the split screen shot shown above but didnt have the technology to do so and therefore decided to use different transition to make it look more professional and fun.
Final Song Decision
We have chosen to do the song "Just the way you are" by "Bruno Mars". He is an up and coming artist and we believe that we could use some of the ideas that we came up with in our preliminary music video task in our final video.

Narrative based video
This is a narrative based video where the video reflects the lyrics. This video is about people who lack confidence and how they all think that they are ugly which you can see when an anoexic girl breathes in. Then you see she has accomplished something when she smiles at the end.

Test video
I made a video with my friends to Kickstarts by Example. I first looked at the original video on youtube to get some initial ideas from it. To keep things simple we decided to copy the video and much as we could for example the video shows people tapping there feet and therefore we decided it would be a good idea to use the same idea. This meant that we could get our heads around how to use the camera again and also gave us time to think about what angles and movements we will use when it comes to our final music video.
I also decided to fit some of the lyrics to the actions in our short video. For example when it says "might be holding your hand but im holding it loose" I made the two people in the video hold hands and then let go when it says "holding it loose" let go of each other.

Andrew Goodwin Theory
Andrew Goodwin identified the important key features in a music video. These are:
- A relationship between the lyrics and the visuals, with the visuals illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the lyrics
- A relationship between the music and the visuals, with the visuals illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the lyrics
- The music video is constructed by the link between the visuals, song and the artist
- Close up of the artists to give them the publicity that they want
- Voyeurism is used to increase the attractiveness of the video especially in men when the video is trying to be humorous
- Intertextual references to other media texts may be present to provide further gratification and pleasure for the viewers
